The banner of peace

“Where there is Culture, there is Peace,
where there is Peace, there is Culture”.
Nicholas Roerich
The Banner of Peace is a powerful universal symbol, proposed by Nicholas Roerich (1874-1947), a Russian artist and visionary nominated three times for the Nobel Peace Prize.
The Roerich Pact and the Banner of Peace represent international agreement signed by India, Baltic States and 22 nations including USA. The Roerich Pact is the first international treaty dedicated to protection of artistic and scientific institutions and historical monuments of all over the world. This agreement was signed on April 15, 1935 and today it represents an international law.
Written in the presence of international experts and lawyers, the Banner of Peace was supported by very imminent personalities including Albert Einstein, George Bernard Shaw and H. G. Wels. In the pact it is stated that “…all educational, artistic and scientific institutions be classified under special protection and respect…”. According to this, any cultural activity anywhere in the world can be accompanied with the Banner of Peace to declare it’s neutrality, independence from military influences and protection by international agreement. The Roerich Pact was often called The Red Cross of Culture.
This unique unifying banner is composed by three red spheres surrounded by the red circle on the white background. The dark red colour or magenta colour symbolizes the colour of our blood, of all people of all races. Upper sphere represents spirituality and encompasses the truth of all religions, so that we can all unite regardless of our different beliefs. Two lower spheres represent all arts and sciences. The circle that surrounds all three spheres represents culture: unity of art, science and spirituality.
It is less known that it was José Arguelles who revived this banner once it fell into oblivion with the Second World War, expanding its meaning from PAX CULTURA to PAX BIOSPHERE. His deep belief was that we can regenerate the whole biosphere with the Planetary peace culture. That is why the Banner of Peace is always accompanying the 13 Moon peace calendar.
For spreading the Peace calendar and the Banner of Peace, in 2010 José Arguelles received the highest award from the International Committee of the Banner of Peace, NonGovermental Organization of the United Nations: THE NICHOLAS ROERICH MEDAL.
PEACE REFLECTIONS THROUGH ART
“Everyone’s an artist, making real the endless song
Everyone’s a healer, knowing light’s the right for wrong
Everyone’s a lover, making every moment count
Everyone’s a leader, drinking from the sacred fount
Yes,everyone’s artist, and the outlet’s through your heart
Yes, everyone’s a healer, ending war by making art.”
Jose Arguelles/Valum Votan
“Everyone’s an Artist”
Poem excerpt
Day out of time
Day Out of Time is celebrated since 1992 every year on 25th of July. This day doesn’t belong to any moon or week, it is out of the template 13:28 and that is why it is called out of time. It is situated between the end of the old year (24th of July) and the beginning of the new year (26th of July). It is the “plus 1” day added to the lunar cycle 13 x 28 = 364 + 1= in order to have present the solar year 365 days cycle, as well. That is the only day when Sirius rises with the Sun.
This day is celebrated all around the planet as the Planetary Peace through culture Festival. It is the celebration and unity day with the main focus on universal forgiveness, reverence and respect for all life, awareness and TIME IS ART! Art and meditation are being used as purification tools so that we can receive as pure as we can, the energy of the following day New Year. Beautiful opportunity to experiment timelessness and love, as well as the presence of telepathy.
GLOBAL WATER APPRECIATION DAY CEREMONIES
Dr. Masaru Emoto, the water messenger, was a strong supporter of the 13 Moon calendar, and created the Global Water Appreciation Day on July 25 to coincide with the annual Day Out of Time, Peace through Culture festival. Day out of Time festivals can be synchronized with Global Water Blessing ceremonies on behalf of the purification and healing of our Planet.
